Researchers, industry representatives and policymakers came together in Hannover on 5 October for Visions4AI, a conference exploring the latest developments in artificial intelligence and the challenges ahead. The annual event is organised by the L3S at Leibniz University Hannover. It was initiated by L3S member Prof. Marius Lindauer, who led the organising team and chaired the programme.
Visions4AI was held under the patronage of Falko Mohrs, Lower Saxony’s Minister for Science and Culture, who was represented by State Secretary Prof. Dr Joachim Schachtner. A special moment for L3S was the presentation of its 25th anniversary publication to the State Secretary. The book looks back on 25 years of research into digital technologies and artificial intelligence, highlighting the centre’s contribution to research in Lower Saxony and beyond.
The programme explored a wide range of AI applications and their impact on society. Speakers included L3S Executive Director Prof. Bodo Rosenhahn, alongside Prof. Kristian Kersting (hessian.AI), Prof. Julia Gillen (Leibniz University Hannover), Prof. Susanne Boll (OFFIS), Lena Eckroth (ROSSMANN), artist Brigitta Muntendorf and Prof. Felix Creutzig (Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research). Together, they brought perspectives from research, business, education, sustainability and the arts to the discussion.
Visions4AI showcased the strength and diversity of the AI community in Hannover and Northern Germany. It also provided an opportunity to exchange ideas and build new partnerships across disciplines and institutions.
