Student Assistant (m/f/d) for a new robotics lab (up to 86 hours per month)

At the L3S research center, a joint institution of Leibniz Universität Hannover and TU Braunschweig, around 200 international scientists from various disciplines research and develop application-oriented methods and technologies in the fields of data science and AI.

For a new robotics laboratory (up to 86 hours per month) we need a student assistant to start as soon as possible. The position is limited to 6 months. A long-term employment also during the semester break is desired.

Your tasks:
  • Collecting tactile data with real robots in the lab;
  • Developing algorithms for machine learning;
  • Processing multimodal sensor data;
  • Creation of repositories and documentation.
Your profile:
  • Enrollment at german university;
  • Advanced Bachelor’s degree or start of a Master’s program in electronics, computer science, mechanics or similar;
  • Very good English skills;
  • Good knowledge of Linux, Python, Git;
  • Communication and organizational skills;
  • Ability to work in a team, reliability, sense of responsibility and flexibility;
  • Previous knowledge of ROS is a plus.

Research Associate (m/f/d) for Public Relations and Events

(part-time – fixed term)


The position is remunerated up to pay grade 13 TV-L.
Due to a replacement on parental leave, it is initially limited to one year with the option of extension.

The position is divided into two parts. We are offering a 50 % (part-time, 20 h/week) position. 


About us

The team of our Communication and Strategy department is responsible for the presentation of the L3S and for communication, project, and event management for several projects, including CAIMed.

CAIMed

is the Lower Saxony Research Center for Artificial Intelligence and Causal Methods in Medicine, funded by the Lower Saxony MWK and the Volkswagen Foundation. The center develops methods for improved, personalized healthcare to overcome common diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases and infections. It links locations in Lower Saxony for methodical AI research, data-intensive medicine, medical informatics and basic medical research. More about CAIMed: https://caimed.de


Your tasks:
  • Independent and scientifically autonomous work in the field of development and conception of communication and networking strategies
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a target group-oriented communication and project strategy for the CAIMed research project
  • Press and media work on scientific and project-related topics (research, writing press releases, newsletters, news and social media posts, etc.) in German and English
  • Establishing and maintaining (press) contacts
  • Support with the maintenance of websites and online channels
  • Editorial support for materials and publications
  • Coordination and implementation of events and project meetings as well as management of external service providers such as caterers
  • Supporting CAIMed’s project management in the areas of reporting, committee management and project management
Your profile:

Requirements:

  • Completed university degree (Bachelor, Master, Diploma) in media studies, public relations or a comparable field
  • Excellent German language skills and very good written and spoken English skills
  • Confident use of Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Ideally you would also have

  • Professional experience in marketing and communications
  • Experience in writing journalistic texts and the ability to communicate complex content in an understandable and readable way
  • Knowledge of WordPress and newsletter programs
  • Experience with digital communication and social media marketing
  • Strong text and language skills as well as organizational skills
  • A high degree of personal responsibility and reliability as well as creativity, team spirit and enjoyment of conceptualizing and designing together
