In the 2025 Call for Fellows and Scholars, the European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS) has appointed five members of L3S: Prof. Dr. Marius Lindauer, Prof. Dr. Sören Auer, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Marcus Magnor and Prof. Dr. Maria-Esther Vidal as ELLIS Fellows, and Prof. Dr. Sahar Vahdati as ELLIS Scholar. Candidates are assessed on criteria including scientific excellence, societal impact and their connection to ELLIS.
Following this positive evaluation, the five researchers can join an existing ELLIS Unit in Germany or, where capacity allows, a suitable ELLIS Research Programme.
ELLIS is a Europe-wide network of leading research groups and researchers in machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI). Fellows and Scholars take an active part in the international ELLIS community.
The appointments not only recognise the researchers’ scientific work but also testify to the strength of AI research at L3S.
