TENACITy
Travelling Intelligence Against Crime and Terrorism
Every day, a huge amount of travel data is stored in the Passenger Name Record information system. The PNR (Passenger Name Record) contains all the information relating to a flight booking. AI-supported analysis of this data offers the possibility of improving the fight against terrorism, as certain patterns (e.g. of networks) can be recognised. However, processing such large amounts of personal data poses technical and legal challenges, particularly in terms of privacy, data security and fundamental rights.
The TENACITy (Travelling Intelligence Against Crime and Terrorism) project aims to develop a Travel Intelligence Governance Framework (TIGF) that develops AI-supported solutions that are compatible with the legal framework of passenger data law, data protection law and the EU AI Act. To this end, ethical guidelines and training programmes are also being developed to improve AI competence in the fight against terrorism.
