Maximilian Becker holds the Chair of Civil Law, Intellectual Property Law and Media Law at the University of Siegen.
Research focus
- Civil law and interfaces to medical law
- Data law and information technology law
- IP law and media law (intellectual property law, esp. new protected goods: events, data in Industry 4.0, domains; copyright law, esp. modernization of copyright law)
- Competition law
- Legal methodology (with transitions to legal philosophy and legal theory)
From 1999 to 2006, Maximilian Becker completed the diploma program “German and European Business Law” at the University of Siegen.
From 2007 to 2013, he was a research assistant at the Chair of Civil and Commercial Law in Siegen.
After receiving his doctorate in 2012, he taught from 2013 to 2019 as an assistant professor (W1) of Civil Law and Intellectual Property Law at University of Siegen.
After completing his habilitation in 2019, he taught at the University of Hanover at the Chair of Data Protection Law and IT Law (W3).
Doctorate in 2012 on the topic of “Absurd Contracts”; awarded the University of Siegen’s sponsorship prize for the promotion of young academics awarded by the DIRLMEIER-GEDÄCHTNISSTIFTUNG
