The L3S has established an Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) that will play a key role in technology transfer and in aligning research activities with industrial needs. The inaugural meeting of the new board took place in Hannover on 19 November.
The IAB brings together distinguished experts and senior executives from a range of industries:
• Dr. Corina Apachițe, Head of AI, AUMOVIO
• Dr. Reinhard Baumfalk, VP Global Engineering, Emerson
• Dr. Thomas Lange, Managing Director, Achleitner Ventures
• Dr. Michael Nolting, CEO, ultra mAInds GmbH
• Maik Ludewig, Managing Director, Oetker Digital
• Dr. Larisa Wewetzer, Head of Global Software Development, Ottobock
Together with the L3S Executive Board, members, and research group leaders, the IAB will support the targeted transfer of research results into practical applications and help establish new partnerships with industry.
Key topics of the first meeting included accelerating the transfer of knowledge from research to market, aligning AI expertise with current industrial requirements, fostering innovation through new perspectives, and identifying application potential in healthcare and other sectors. The discussion also addressed ways to strengthen Europe’s competitiveness in AI.
The new board complements the existing Scientific Advisory Board with a market-oriented perspective. With regular meetings, the L3S is creating a confidential forum for feedback on research directions and for identifying new development and cooperation opportunities.
By establishing the IAB, the L3S is taking an important step towards becoming one of Germany’s leading AI centres – and towards translating AI research even more effectively into societal and economic impact.
