The L3S Research Center welcomes applications for the following position, starting as soon as possible:

Research Associate in Artificial Intelligence (salary scale 13 TV-L, 100 %)

The position is limited until December 31, 2028 with the possibility for renewal and offers the possibility to do a PhD. The scope of the position corresponds to 100% of the jointly agreed working hours.

Your role

At L3S, new machine learning and generative AI approaches are developed for a broad spectrum of applications, ranging from production to medicine. Your task will be to work independently on corresponding research questions and development tasks in the context of projects in the field of AI, to work with regional businesses and public sector organizations on applications of AI, and to publish research results at international conferences and in scientific journals.

Who are we looking for?

The candidate must fulfil the following requirements:

  • A completed scientific university degree (Master or Diploma) in computer science
  • Very good German and English skills, both oral and written
  • In-depth knowledge in several areas of artificial intelligence
  • Ability and willingness to collaborate with experts from different scientific and technical disciplines as well as from industry
  • Communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a team; reliability, sense of responsibility, and flexibility

The L3S Research Center is looking for student assistants for the administration offices to start as soon as possible.

Your tasks:
  • General tasks (answering the phone, mail/filing, organizational matters)
  • Support at events (workshops, meetings, etc.)
  • Support in project work (documentation/reporting etc.)
  • Support with recruitment procedures in German and English (research assistants / research and student assistants)
  • Translation work (German – English)
  • Data maintenance (lists, Excel)
Your profile:
  • Enrolled student at a German university
  • Very good knowledge of German and English
  • Confident handling of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
  • Independent and structured way of working
  • Reliability and ability to work in a team
