The L3S dedicates a special issue of the research magazine BinaBinaire Startupire to the topic of start-ups. One of the tasks of the L3S is to support companies in digitalisation and pass on new findings to the economy. In this transformation process, spin-offs from science play a unique role. Start-ups are a direct and effective way of transferring knowledge and technology to established companies and society. Students, scientists, or graduates who turn their expertise into marketable and successful products and services make an essential contribution to securing competitiveness and social prosperity with their entrepreneurial spirit. This is especially true for highly innovative future fields such as artificial intelligence applications. The Binaire special edition shows how the L3S supports innovative start-up projects and presents spin-offs and cooperation projects with start-ups.
