Research Software Engineer for Web User Interface Technology

The L3S Research Center, Hannover, Germany, invites applications for a position in an international research project in the context of the Open Course Ware platform SlideWiki ( and Open Research Knowledge Graph (

Research Software Engineer (E 13 TV-L, 100%)

The Research Associate will be a member of the Data Science Research Group (Prof. Dr. Sören Auer) in the Joint-Lab between L3S and the TIB Research and Development Department. Initial appointment will be for 3 years, starting as soon as possible.

The candidate’s competence area should be squarely rooted in computer science or a related field, she should be able to think creatively, grasp new knowledge quickly, be able to combine abstract reasoning with concrete problem solving and be interested in mastering complex challenges.


  • Development of software and user interfaces for the open course ware platform SlideWiki and/or the Open Research Knowledge Graph
  • Test and documentation of the developed software components
  • Provision of the project results as Open Source


  • A Master degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Science)
  • Excellent proficiency in modern programming languages and modern software engineering methodologies, proven team software development skills.
  • Very good knowledge in Web user interface technologies in particular JavaScript/React.js/Node.js
  • Above-average commitment, solution-oriented approach, initiative and team spirit
  • Strong knowledge of user interaction and semantic technologies is a plus
  • Independent and structured way of working
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
