The L3S Research Center, Hannover, Germany, invites applications for
one Postdoc and three Ph.D. research positions
in the areas of Machine Learning, Data Mining, Spatio-Temporal Data Analytics and Semantic Technologies.
Your work will focus on conducting large-scale spatio-temporal data analysis in several application domains, including in particular (electro-) mobility, logistics and controlled data sharing as well as on enhancing the usability, explainability and traceability of machine learning and data analytics approaches.
In your work you will develop solutions to real-world problems that require large-scale data analytics while utilizing distributed platforms such as Hadoop, HBase and Spark, database management systems such as Postgres/PostGis as well as state-of-the-art Machine Learning libraries including Apache Spark MLlib, SANSA, TensorFlow and Keras.
Your research will connect to our work in the projects Data4UrbanMobility, Simple-ML, WorldKG, CampaNeo, d-E-mand and smashHit funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and the EU Horizon 2020 and provide important input to the development of the integrated data analytics and machine learning platforms.
Your research will focus on selected topics in some of the following areas
* Large-scale data analytics
* Profiling of spatio-temporal data
* Generation of large-scale spatio-temporal Knowledge Graphs
* Analysing Volunteered Geographic Information (e.g. OpenStreetMap)
* Machine learning with spatio-temporal data
* Spatial algorithms and data structures
* Predictive models in (electro-)mobility and logistics domains
* Application of Knowledge Graphs in Machine Learning
* Data use traceability
in a challenging and unique research environment.
You should possess good knowledge in one or several areas relevant for the topics specified in this announcement. Good proficiency in English and German is expected, as well as an outstanding M.Sc. or Ph.D. in computer science.
