The Web Science Summer School 2018 – WWSSS'18


30 July – 4 August 2018 at L3S, Hannover

The WWSSS'18 will address the inter-disciplinary field of Web Science by focusing on lectures which tackle the aforementioned challenges in topics such as data science and data mining, big data processing, information retrieval, Web governance as well as the sociology and psychology of online interactions.

The program includes keynote talks from prominent researchers in Web Science. Alongside lectures from experienced researchers, that will address major trends in Web Science, the Summer School will provide hands-on training in data processing, analysis and methods, team work, and opportunities to present current research. Participants shall work on specific tasks linked to the datasets provided, and will be mentored by local instructors. All teams will present the results of their work on the last day of the school. 20 of the student attendees will be supported with scholarships from the SoBigData project. The organisation committee will evaluate all applications. Every attendee with a successful application will receive a fee waiver. In addition, we reserved a budget of up to 400€ per grant, to support with costs related to WWSSS2018 attendance and travel. 13th International Conference on Data Integration in the Life Sciences 2018

20 - 21 November 2018, Hannover (Germany)

The conference aim is to foster discussion, exchange, and innovation in research and development in the areas of data integration and data management for the life sciences. Researchers, professionals and students from computer science, engineering, medicine and biology are invited to share their knowledge and experience.

The thirteenth edition of DILS provides a forum for the discussion of big data on the life sciences, including challenges and technical solutions for transforming big data into knowledge from which actionable insights can be extracted.

The conference is being hosted by TIB – Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology (TIB in Hannover), L3S Research Center Leibniz Universität Hannover (L3S in Hannover), ZB MED – Information Centre for Life Sciences (ZB MED in Cologne/Bonn) and MHH - Hannover Medical School (MHH in Hannover).

In addition, the TIB will hold a pre-conference on "Data Integration in the Life Sciences and Semantic Technologies" on November 19, 2018 and a post-conference on "Open Research Knowledge Graph" on November 22, 2018.
