OKKAM

The OKKAM project aims at enabling the Web of Entities, namely a virtual space where any collection of data and information about any type of entities (e.g. people, locations, organizations, events, products, ...) published on the Web can be integrated into a single virtual, decentralized, open knowledge base (like the Web did for hypertexts). OKKAM will contribute to this vision by supporting the convergence towards the use of a single and globally unique identifier for any entity which is named on the Web.

TENCompetence

TENCompetence will support individuals, groups and organisations in Europe in lifelong competence development by establishing the most appropriate technical and organisational infrastructure, using opensource standards-based, sustainable and innovative technology. TENCompetence is a 4-year EU-funded Integrated IST-TEL project that will develop a technical and organisational infrastructure for lifelong competence development. The infrastructure will use open-source, standards-based, sustainable and innovative technology. With this freely available infrastructure the European Union aims to boost the European ambitions of the Knowledge Society, by providing all European citizens, SMEs and other organisations easy access to facilities that enable the lifelong development of competencies and expertise in the various occupations and fields of knowledge.

REWERSE

REWERSE is a research "Network of Excellence" (NoE) on "Reasoning on the Web" that is funded by the EU Commission and Switzerland within the "6th Framework Programme" (FP6). The objective of REWERSE ("Reasoning on the Web with Rules and Semantics") is to establish Europe as a leader in reasoning languages for the Web by networking and structuring a scientific community that needs it, and by providing tangible technological bases that do not exist today for an industrial software development of advanced Web systems and applications.

HELCA

HELCA (Hannover eLearning Campus) focuses mainly on the extension of traditional teaching with eLearning technologies, transferring the results of previous projects into common practice for all faculty members of the University of Hannover. Fundamental organizational changes are required and have to be coordinated within the overall IT strategy of the university and the main partners on campus.

leactivemath logo

LeActiveMath

LeActiveMath delivers an innovative web-based, intelligent, multi-lingual e-learning system for mathematics that will be used in high school and college or university level classrooms as well as for self-study. Its semantic content encoding relies on and extends existing standards (such as OpenMath, IEEE LOM, Maths QTI). It can be used and is actually used for other mathematical services on the Web. As a mathematical research project, LeActiveMath investigates cutting edge technologies and combines the technologies and opportunities of the Web with intelligent tutoring techniques and language technology. This enables a variety and a combination of features that no single system has featured so far.
