Piano Club Utopiano

Utopiano In 1997 some students of the University of Twente - including me - decided to come together and to start a piano club, Utopiano. Although we were - as far as we know - the only piano club in the Netherlands, and perhaps in Europe, we were quite successful with about twenty members.
Our regular meetings included the public piano lessons in masterclass style. We played, listened to each other and discussed about the works we play. About twice a year we had a concert.

We also organized other events, like concert trips or excursions. One of our favorite destinations was the workshop of Edwin Beunk, in which early pianos are restored. It is great to see, smell, touch, play and learn about these instruments. Edwin's wife, Riko Fukuda, is a professional fortepianist and every now and then we are invited to attend a try-out of her new concert program.

For those who are interested, you can download an mp3 of me playing Mozart's Fantasie in d, KV 397 (7,78 MB) at the Utopiano Winter Concert of 2002.
