Die Nacht ist nicht allein zum Schlafen da...

A Theatre Program with German Songs from the 1920s till 1940s

Would you like to know

You will find answers to these and many other questions in the theatre program "Die Nacht is nicht allein zum Schlafen da...", in which you can hear and see me and my partner, Kristof Schliep performing songs from an almost forgotten era.

Famous composers - like Friedrich Hollaender, Ralph Benatzky - wrote songs for performers who were just as famous as them. I just mention Marlene Dietrich and Johannes Heesters.

Their songs deal with everyday themes like people, fashion, exotic countries and obviously love; sometimes just very witty, sometimes unambiguously ambiguous and sometimes melancholic as well. Many of these songs used to be plain #1 hits, yet now most of them have been forgotten. Alas.

If you are able to read some German (it ain't that difficult, eh), you are highly encouraged to visit our Website, with much more information and impressions of our program.
