MoRob Resources

The Scalable Processing Box (SPB): our standardized, scalable, modular and easily combinable processing unit for applications in educational robotics.
The SPB pages contain:

  • Hardware information
  • LiRE (see below)
  • Documentation
  • Application examples
The Linux Real time Environment (LiRE): a small embedded Linux distribution with real-time capabilities for use in the field of research and education. The software, including documentation, can also be found on our SPB pages.

The MoRob Kit: a robotics kit with modular components to build flexible platforms tailored to teaching and research.
Our website contains:

The CAS Robot Navigation Toolbox from KTH Stockholm:

  • A GNU licenced Matlab toolbox for robot localization and mapping
  • Ideal for research and education
  • Independent on the type(s) of feature
  • Imports various data file formats from any sensor
  • Plug in and out your feature extraction, odometry model, data association strategy, etc.
  • Plug in and out your SLAM approach, parametric or non-parametric
  • Comes with a number of useful tools and functions
Find the prerelease here.

The Haptics toolkit from Stanford: CHAI 3D

  • Open source, freely available set of C++ libraries for computer haptics, visualization and interactive real-time simulation.
  • Supports several commercially available three and six degree-of-freedom haptic devices, and makes it simple to support new custom force feedback devices.
  • Specially designated for education and research purposes offering a light platform on which extensions can be developed.
The CHAI 3D website contains descriptions, documentation and software downloads.

The Dynamic simulation engine from Stanford: sai Simulation & Active Interfaces.
Find a description of sai here.

EURON Education & Training Resources

EURON is the European Robotics Network, a Network of Excellence funded by the European Union.
The EURON Education & Training key area, an international collaboration with members from different EU countries, initiated the following resources:

The Educational Robotics resource pages, which started as a WiKi platform to provide robotics related educational information to teachers. Besides information on summer schools and sample videos for teaching with robots, we have pages describing different robotics platforms and their use in education. These are meant to enable teachers to judge on different platforms through relevant information, examples in educational use and links to other sources of information. A section on robotics simulators is soon to come.
The whole community is invited to provide entries for new platforms, or add information to existing ones.

The Robotics WEBook is an online encyclopaedia comprising articles in robotics and related areas in tutorial or reference style.

The summer schools organized by EURON have their teaching materials online:

The Maersk Institute offers 2 distance learning courses which might be interesting for students in robotics.
  • AM12 Analyical and Computational Mechanics (9 ECTS points)
  • AM14 Dynamical Systems and Chaos (7.5 ECTS points)
The courses may be taken free of charge as asynchronous distance learning by external students, if their home institution agrees to credit them to their degree program. Students will need access to a valid Mathematica license. [More information]
