Figure 1: The online lab for picture genaration The picture shows the online lab for picture generation with a laser device currently being constructed. It will be tested with engineering students. Thereby the influence of the distribution of lab devices, tutor and students on learning outcomes, user satisfaction and work strategy will be investigated. |

Figure 4: A snapshot from the web based lab environment. The programmming environment allows editing, storing, compiling, uploading and running of Java programs. The upper part of the window in figure 4 allows students remote access to the lab and is thus a substitute for being present in the lab (“telepresence”). They can select among four cameras to see a live video of the experiment desk, the canvas with the generated laser picture, the status lights of the devices or the moving galvanometer scanner. The canvas camera allows users to pan, tilt and zoom in on details. Users with access right can switch on and off the embedded system. In future, a microphone will transmit the sound of the operating scanner via an audio server. |
